Advancing Compensation & Valuation Strategies: Tools, Trade Offs, & Tactical Know-How for Nations
First Nations in British Columbia are increasingly navigating complex negotiations related to compensation for past harms, land and resource dispossession, and title and rights infringements. These negotiations often raise challenging questions about how to appropriately and strategically undertake valuations to inform compensation-related negotiations or other processes. This workshop will provide an opportunity for constructive consideration about the theory, methods, and application of different compensation valuation approaches with focus on a draft tool(s) to support First Nations in making choices about the approaches that work best for them.
This workshop is hosted by the Union of BC Indian Chiefs and BC First Nations Regional Information Governance Centre, and the University of British Columbia.
